Please note:
Due to the time available, the research has to be concentrated solely on direct ancestors and their children and not the wider family tree of all ancestors' children and spouses and their parents, siblings etc. Should you require it, we can perform more detailed research on any given line.
The pedigree chart, as stated, is in compact form. If you wish to purchase the full-size chart - which we strongly recommend - this is available at a small extra cost. Please contact us for full details and pricing.
The narrative report is, as the title suggests, a narrative depiction of the tree split by generation and using the "ahnentahfel" numbering system whereby each ancestor is allocated a pre-determined number, eg: 1=subject of the tree, 2=father, 3=mother, 4=paternal grandfather, 5=paternal grandmother, 6=maternal grandfather, 7=maternal grandmother, 8=paternal great-great grandfather etc. etc.
As a responsible organisation, our policy is always to err on the side of caution and not make guesses if any uncertainties arise, as they tend to do from time to time in genealogical research. Where any possible ambiguities manifest themselves, these will either not be included in the final presentation, or included only after consultation with the client and when the client's permission has been granted.
We use a minimum three way check to determine facts and dates before including them in the final presentation.
Acorn Ancestry work to a fixed price contract, but in cases where, for example, a client wants us to find the name of, say, a great-great-grandparent, then we will charge a fee of £25 per hour.
During a typical research project, it may be necessary to order copies of birth and/or marriage certificates to assist in building the family tree and to gather more information necessary to creating the tree in more detail. If certificates are needed, then the client will be informed, and if the client agrees to their purchases, the cost of the certificates (£10 each including postage and packing) will be added to the final bill. The client can of course keep the certificates as part of the finished package.
